Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how [LEGAL NAME] (“TripCash,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), located in [COUNTRY], handles information when you use the TripCash application and website.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, display name, account identifier, and authentication information managed by our authentication provider. We do not receive your password in readable form.
- Trip and expense information: trip names, participant names, expenses, amounts, currencies, categories, notes, payment records, settlement records, and activity history.
- Optional information: PayPal.me links and participant contacts you choose to save.
- Technical information: authentication events, device or browser information, IP address, and security logs collected by our service providers.
- Local device information: authentication sessions, theme, currency, and split preferences stored in browser or app storage. TripCash does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
2. How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts, provide shared trip-expense features, calculate balances, synchronize data, support invitations, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
3. Legal bases
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to perform our contract with you, based on our legitimate interests in operating and securing TripCash, with your consent where requested, and to comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing and service providers
Information in a shared trip is visible to authorized trip participants. We use Supabase for database hosting and authentication, Netlify for website hosting, and Google Fonts for typography. A PayPal.me link opens PayPal, whose own privacy policy applies. We may disclose information when legally required or during a business transfer.
5. International transfers
Our providers may process information outside your country. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards are used by us or our providers.
6. Retention
We retain account and trip information while your account is active and as needed to provide TripCash. When you delete your account, private profile, contact, and membership data is deleted. Information needed for shared expense records may be retained in anonymized form. We may retain limited information where required by law, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
7. Your choices and rights
You can update profile information or permanently delete your account from Account Settings. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or export your information, withdraw consent, and complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Security
We use access controls, encrypted network connections, authentication, and database row-level security. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
9. Children
TripCash is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum digital-consent age in their country. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorization.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date and provide additional notice when required.
